What would people think of me (Irish and American) living in Ireland?

I grew up in Ireland and the United states. Right now I live in the US. I am thinking of going back to Ireland to go to university. I was kind of young when I last lived there. Some of the people I know in Ireland do not like the states. My family there always tell really funny jokes about american tourists. My mother hates living here. If she could, she would move back. How would people view me? I really hate arguing about politics and international issues so I usually just stay quiet. People here think I have a bit of an Irish accent, but I know it does sound american too. My accent does not sound dumb. What would people think of me when they hear my accent. One of my friends in Belfast once came to a costume party dressed as an American. He wore a cowboy hat and carried a big fake cigar. It was really funny. How should I keep people from thinking I am a tourist? I think maybe I am wrong about this but I just want to check.
