You're doing the right thing... Friendship into relationship sometimes isn't very good... and going back to being friends if the relationship doesn't work is a pain in the ... The only thing you can do is keep being there for him and showing him how sweet you are etc... When he's sad find something to cheer him up... or whatever... Anyways just keep being there for him and if anything arises congratz. BTW if a guy answers a question like that really fast and sounds really nervous truth be told he really likes you, but is too shy to admit it infront of anyone else.
